Alphabet board sued for allegedly covering up sexual misconduct claims

The suit comes months after a report alleged that Google paid Andy Rubin $xc million to leave the company due to sexual misconduct allegations

Google-parent company Alphabet has been sued by a shareholder for allegedly covering up sexual misconduct claims levied against senior executives.

According to CNBC, citing a lawsuit filed in California's San Mateo Canton on January 10th, 2019, Alphabet's board of directors' "wrongful conduct allowed the illegal conduct to proliferate and continue."

"Equally such, members of Alphabet's Lath were knowing and direct enablers of the sexual harassment and discrimination."

CNBC reported that the lawsuit also accused Alphabet of paying off loftier-level employees accused of sexual misconduct, while firing low-level employees for crusade with no severance.

"In this way, Alphabet and the Lath were able to maintain optics and superficial compliance with its lawmaking of acquit, internal rules, and laws regarding sexual harassment," reads an excerpt from the same lawsuit, according to CNBC.

The lawsuit comes months after a New York Times report revealed Google allegedly paid so-called 'Godfather of Android' Andy Rubin $90 million USD to go out the company post-obit sexual misconduct allegations that were levied against Rubin.

The Times report led approximately 20,000 Google employees effectually the globe to walk out of their offices in protest.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai sent an email to Google employees on November eighth, 2018, expanding on the company's efforts to gainsay workplace harassment.
